Award-Winning Research Study by Trent University Professor Ed Ng Explores What Business Students Look for in a First Job

An award-winning research study conducted by assistant professor Ed Ng from the Business Administration program at Trent University, and co-authored by Professor Ronald Burke at York University, has delivered some surprising findings about what today's business students want from employers when considering their first jobs.

'Contrary to popular belief, students did not rank compensation as the most important factor when accepting their first jobs. In fact it was ranked in sixth place,' explained Prof. Ng, who, in addition to his teaching and research activities at Trent, is also the chair of the Gender and Diversity in Organizations division of the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada, an association of management professors in Canada.

Intel Rolls Out New vPro Chips For Business Market

Intel is expected to unveil its new vPro chip technology aimed at making business PCs more secure, as the world's largest chipmaker seeks to solidify its brand.

SAN FRANCISCO - Intel Corp Sunday unveiled its new vPro chip technology aimed at making business personal computers more secure, as the world's largest chipmaker seeks to solidify its brand.

vPro is a collection of a Core 2 Duo processor, chipset and other elements that together the company calls a platform. Intel's first platform technology was Centrino, which it announced in 2003.

Since then, under Chief Executive Paul Otellini, the company has moved from selling and branding discrete processors and chipsets to selling them together as related technologies, or platforms, in a bid to sell more chips overall.

"As Intel has platformized its brands, it now wants to sell coordinated silicon sets," said Roger Kay, principal at Endpoint Technologies Associates. "Intel really wants to sell more silicon."
